Per gli altri casi, ovvero nel caso in cui usiamo il nostro desktop per le normali funzioni di lavoro, collegato ad un normale monitor per pc, l'uso di MythTV non si rivela la soluzione adatta: meglio usare un programma come Kaffeine o gxine per aprire una finestra e vedere la TV mentre si vogliono usare altri programmi.
